Application Procedures

Students may apply for admission to either program if they satisfy prerequisites and the minimum requirements for admission set by the Graduate School. In addition, the following must be submitted:

Complete on-line graduate application

  1. Official transcripts from each institution attended;
  2. Two letters of recommendation from employers and former instructors who can speak about the candidate’s potential as a graduate student and for a career in art therapy (for example, clinical directors, supervisors, professors, etc.);
  3. Essay of at least 300 words, describing your background, experience, and professional goals toward pursuing a career in art therapy, and how you believe this program will serve those goals;
  4. Portfolio evaluation — submit no fewer than ten (10) pieces of exemplary recent artwork. The selection should include drawing, figure drawing, painting and sculpture. Photos or color transparencies may be sent;
  5. Completed immunization form;
  6. Resume or curriculum vita;
  7. When all application materials have been received in the program office, the prospective student will be notified to schedule an interview with the program coordinator and meet the division head. Students who, due to distance, cannot come to the campus for the interview, should schedule a telephone interview;
  8. Signed Statement of Academic Integrity.
