CNR TO OFFER EXPANDED SUMMER COURSE SCHEDULE
AT SPECIAL TUITION RATES

NEW ROCHELLE, NY, April 3, 2007 – The College of New Rochelle (CNR) School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) announced today that it will expand its summer session offerings to include 26 one- and three-credit courses in areas such as Studio Art, Natural Sciences and Math, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Summer Session I will run from May 29 – June 29 and Summer Session II from July 2 – August 3. All courses will be offered at a special summer tuition rate of $550 per credit.

“Expanding the number of courses and offering them at a highly competitive rate is a service not only to our own CNR students but benefits students from surrounding communities as well,” says Dr. Richard Thompson, Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. “Many students find themselves locked out of summer courses elsewhere, and we want to provide them with the opportunity to continue or accelerate their studies here at CNR.”

In addition to courses traditionally offered during the summer, such as Concepts in Biology, Computer Applications, Painting for Non-Majors, General Psychology, Quantitative Reasoning, Overview of HIV Infection and AIDS, and Elementary Spanish, CNR has added several new art and social work courses:

New York Art Scene: This course provides students the opportunity to experience a broad spectrum of NYC’s art scene through group visits to museums, galleries, and performance spaces, as well as artists’ studios and workspaces in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Understanding Sexual Violence Issues: This course is designed to increase knowledge of sexual violence, including the dynamics of the crime, its historical roots, and its effect on individuals and communities.

Juvenile Justice: An Examination of the Population and Effective Programs of Intervention: Students will examine the juvenile justice population, including trends, demographics, system response, minority representation, and habilitation/rehabilitation issues.

Understanding Gangs and Gang Behavior: This course examines the social phenomena of gangs nationally and regionally, focusing on the history, organization, and definitions of gangs and preventive measures.

Registration begins April 16 for Summer Sessions I and II. For a full listing, visit www.cnr.edu and click on the School of Arts & Sciences. For information, call 914-654-5248
