Visiting Faculty –
Literacy
The College of New Rochelle’s Graduate
School/Division of Education invites applications for a visiting
full-time faculty member to teach 3 courses in Literacy during the Fall
2008 semester. These courses will be offered at our co-sponsored
site in Rockland County. Qualified individuals should have a
minimum of a doctoral degree in the field or ABD with relevant research
and presentations.
Qualifications and
Position Responsibilities
Doctorate in Literacy (Reading) or related field (ABD considered with
relevant research and presentations) and at least three years
experience as a classroom teacher. Expertise in curriculum
development, reading in the content areas, the writing process,
adolescent psychology, technology, and research preferred.
Responsibilities include:

Teaching graduate courses
-
Advising and mentoring students
-
Developing relationships with area schools
-
Doing scholarly work; and
-
Participating in school, campus, state, and
national, professional and service activities.

New Rochelle and the Graduate School
The Graduate School is one of four schools of the College and was
founded in 1969 in response to the needs of working adults. We
offer Master’s degree programs in the areas of Education, Human
Services, and Art and Communication Studies, as well as certificates
and professional diplomas in selected professional areas. Classes
are offered in late afternoons, evenings and on weekends. The
College is located on a beautiful suburban campus 16 miles north of
midtown Manhattan and easily accessible by public transportation.

College of New Rochelle was founded in 1904 by the Ursuline Order.

it comprises the all-women School of Arts & Sciences, and three
schools
which admit women and men: the School of New Resources (for adult
learners),
the School of Nursing and the Graduate School. The main campus of
the College is located in lower Westchester County, 16 miles north of
New York City. The College maintains five other campus locations
