President Huntington Joins 160 College Presidents in Letter on Gun Safety
In response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, President Judith Huntington has joined more than 160 college and university presidents from across the country as signatory on an open letter regarding gun safety legislation
initiated by Presidents Lawrence M. Schall of Oglethorpe University and Elizabeth Kiss of Agnes Scott College (both in Atlanta, Georgia).
President Huntington has also added her name as signatory on a letter to President Obama from college and university presidents
which pledges support in response to his call at the Sandy Hook memorial service call to do everything in our power to prevent more tragedies like this. In the letter, the higher education community pledges to "do what we do best in our academic communities: engage thoughtful leaders, faculty, students, staff, Trustees and friends in meaningful debate and dialogue, which, in turn, might lead to positive action."
