Historical Commentaries Tackles Ideas of the Past at Castle Gallery
Historical Commentaries, which runs April 23 through June 23, 2013, presents the work of artists who address notions of history on both individual and societal levels.
Informed by personal memories, cultural histories, fantastical myths, misleading advertising or propaganda, forgotten accomplishments and unacknowledged omissions, the artists rewrite or shed light on the familiar, foreign and overlooked, thus exposing the constructs behind behaviors and events that are often accepted with little argument. They magnify elements of human behavior spanning centuries for us to contemplate.
Artists: Suyeon Na, Lynn Cazabon, Victoria Crayhon, Jennifer Crupi, Cara DeAngelis, Dean Landry, Daniel Ludlow, So Yoon Lym, Kamal Al Mansour, and Joe Meiser.
Organizer: Katrina Rhein
The reception takes place Sunday, May 5, from 2 to 4 p.m., to coincide with The College of New Rochelle’s 41st annual Strawberry Festival
