The College of New Rochelle softball players Christine Biskup, Genesis Garcia, and Meghan King have been named to the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for 2013.
Biskup, a senior pitcher and infielder, was the team's captain and top pitcher this season, earning half of the Blue Angels' wins in the circle. She led the team in innings pitched, strikeouts, and complete games. Also appearing at first base, second base, and shortstop as well as in the outfield, Biskup finished fourth on the team in RBI and runs scored. She was named HVWAC Player of the Week on March 26 and HVWAC Pitcher of the Week on April 16.
Garcia, a junior, split time between catcher and third base for CNR, and led the team in batting average (.412), hits, triples, slugging percentage (.529), on-base percentage (.500), and multihit games, posting career-highs in each category. She ended the year on a hot streak, going 8 for 12 (.667) with six RBI and four runs scored over the Blue Angels' final three games.
A sophomore, King led the team in games played and games started, missing just two games. A 2012 HVWAC All-Conference selection as well, King also posted team-highs in at-bats, runs scored, doubles, total bases, and putouts. Playing primarily at first base, she earned HVWAC Player of the Week honors on April 16 as part of a historic sweep of all three HVWAC Softball Weekly Awards (Player of the Week – King; Pitcher of the Week – Biskup; and Rookie of the Week – Katy Baudendistel), the first time in program history the Blue Angels have claimed all three awards in one week.
The College of New Rochelle improved its win total from last season under the direction of second-year head coach Georgia Efthalitsides and graduates just two letter-winners, Biskup and Delannie Hospedales.
