Religious Studies
Because religion is embedded in most of the world’s history, literature, and social institutions, its study offers access to a range of past and present human concerns. Our Religious Studies Department is dedicated to open inquiry into religion and theology as one of the significant areas of human life and as one key to our understanding of the world. Religious Studies majors are invited to share in this study to develop critical and responsible standards of judgment and to gain an appreciation of the religious element in life.

Because of the College’s Catholic origins and heritage, some courses focus on theology in the Roman Catholic tradition, while others focus on other religious traditions as well the particular facets of religious meaning and value.
