TRANSFER ADMISSIONS
Transfer candidates must submit official high school and college transcripts
and SAT scores. An academic recommendation is optional.
In general, all courses completed with grades of C- or better
and similar to those found in the college catalog, are acceptable
for transfer, up to a maximum of 75 credits. Transfer
students who have taken the equivalent of the required writing
and mathematics courses and passed these with a C- or better
are not required to take the writing and mathematics placement exams.
Transfer students who have completed an Associate in Arts degree
with a minimum of 60 credits will be granted junior status. The
official transcript must indicate that the Associate degree was earned. The
liberal arts core program at The College of New Rochelle will be satisfied
with the provision that to receive credit for an elementary level
foreign language, two semesters are needed to transfer credits. Math
requirements for the associate degree must be equal to either MTH
109: Quantitative Reasoning or MTH 111: College Mathematics at The
College of New Rochelle.
The transfer student must usually complete one-half of her major and
minor courses at The College of New Rochelle. In addition,
30 of the credits required in residence must be completed on the junior
or senior level. Each transfer student's credentials will
be discussed with the chairpersons of the major departments to determine
which previously completed courses will be accepted toward department
requirements. A transfer student intending to pursue an
art major is required to show the Chairperson of the Art Department
a portfolio of her work to determine her proficiency.
The prospective transfer student can take advantage of our Transfer
Days, which are scheduled throughout the year. This is
an opportunity to visit the campus and find out in one day whether
she qualifies for acceptance, which courses will be considered for
transfer, and what kinds of financial aid are available. Students
should bring the following items:
- a
completed College of New Rochelle application and fee;
- an
official of college transcript(s);
- course
descriptions of all courses completed;
- a
copy of the completed Financial Aid Form; and
- a
financial aid transcript from each college or university attended
The student will be able to meet with a transfer counselor, a financial
aid counselor, and a member of the Dean's staff, who will help in
course selection. Time is allowed for a campus tour,
visit to classes, and lunch. Student who cannot attend
a Transfer Day should schedule a visit at their convenience by calling
the Office of Admission at 1-800-933-5923.
When the transfer application is complete, an official letter of
response, with a preliminary credit evaluation, will be sent to
the student.
Official transcripts and any other documentation necessary for transfer
of credits to fulfill graduation requirements must be on file in
the Office of the Registrar. Students must request
these materials from previously attended institutions.
